GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION & MANDATES FOR COST IDENTIFICATION MANAGEMENT & RECOVERY

Recent government legislation has radically changed how the NHS must approach the area of cost identification and cost recovery, now requiring a proactive approach to recording, reconciling and recovering 3rd party debt. In the words of the Department of Health and Section 23 of the NHS manual of accounts;

NHS Trusts have an obligation to seek a reimbursement of public funds whenever there is an identifiable payor, at-fault insurer or corporate entity

The Government has extended its Injury Cost Recovery Scheme, extending it to cover recovery of costs from insurance companies for treating NHS patients in all cases where personal injury compensation is paid.
